FMS technology is designed to enable wireless Internet Service Provider operations in sub-urban/ semi-rural areas by distributing the bandwidth available in one location to subscribers in the surrounding vicinity up to to 100 km. FMS technology is specially designed for:
- Telcos and ISPs to expand market coverage
- Governments to fulfill Universal Service Funds
- NGOs to reach underserved communities
The primary Internet connection, where there is a reliable and preferably high-bandwidth Internet connection, is called a Hub. Subscribers within an initial radius of the hub can access the Internet on a standard real-time wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Depending on the population size and concentration, this WLAN can be expanded into a real-time wireless Wide Area Network (WLAN) up to 5-15 km.
The unique capability of FMS’s technology is its ability to distribute the Internet connection’s bandwidth to the last 100km, the Village Area Network (VAN) with relatively small infrastructure costs. The same VAN-APX access points can be mounted on any vehicle (buses, motorcycles, boats) which physically transports data to/from surrounding rural areas within a day’s reach of the Internet connection.
